Using eCM means that the one thing that makes your business money (i.e. your Contacts List) remains on your computer and is not accessible by any third party unless you wish it to be, that way you can be certain that your privacy policy and legal responsibilities are upheld. This also means that you can make backups of your lists any time you wish and not have to suffer the complete loss of your list at the hands of a third party if they decide your account should be closed for any reason.
